Leeds United’s opening-weekend opponents Nottingham Forest have appointed outgoing Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner as head coach after Vitor Pereira’s departure.
The club said in a statement that the appointment was confirmed on Monday morning, presenting Glasner as a proven winner with a record of developing ambitious, attacking teams.
He is one of only three head coaches to have won both the Europa League and Europa Conference League, and he lifted the 2024/25 FA Cup before adding the FA Community Shield and the Conference League.
Forest endured a troubled 2025-26 Premier League campaign while pursuing Europa League success, using four managers in Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and then Pereira.
Pereira arrived in February after Dyche was dismissed and steered Forest to 16th, five points above the drop zone and two behind Leeds, before a mutual termination clause was triggered last week.
Glasner previously guided Wolfsburg into the Champions League and led Eintracht Frankfurt to the 2021/22 Europa League, with his sides noted for intensity, organisation and front-foot play.
He outlined a clear long-term vision, praised the club’s history and set an immediate focus on pre-season, with owner Evangelos Marinakis outlining shared ambition to challenge for major honours.
