Nottingham Forest have had a €20m bid for Anan Khalaili rejected by Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, according to NY Times.

Forest proposed €17.5m guaranteed plus €2.5m in performance and appearance bonuses and a small sell-on fee, which is well below the €28m package Inter Milan agreed two weeks ago. The Belgian club are expected to insist on a similar fee.

Khalaili, 21, is a right-sided wing-back or winger. He had agreed a move to Inter in mid July, but it collapsed late on after he did not receive the required medical clearance.

Bournemouth and Newcastle have also shown interest in the Israel international this summer. Forest had looked at Feyenoord’s 20-year-old Givairo Read for their right-back vacancy but could not strike a deal.

Khalaili joined RUSG in summer 2024 from Maccabi Haifa for €6.5m. He helped end the club’s 90-year title drought in his first season, then scored three times in eight Champions League appearances the following year.

He has 16 caps for Israel and a contract running to 2028, with two years remaining.
