Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to appoint Vitor Pereira as head coach, which would make him their fourth of a disastrous season. According to Leeds Live, negotiations are close and the 57-year-old is preparing to sign a deal at the City Ground through 2027.

He is in line to replace Sean Dyche, who was sacked after the 0-0 draw with Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou were also dismissed earlier in the campaign.

Pereira would inherit a side perched just above the relegation zone with 12 fixtures remaining. Forest have a three-point cushion over 18th-placed West Ham, and Nuno's Hammers have shown strong recent form.

They could not close the gap in their last outing, and remain three points and two places behind Leeds, who beat them 3-1 at Elland Road last week. Daniel Farke's team hold a six-point buffer to the bottom three.

Pereira kept Wolves up last season and has been out of work since leaving the West Midlands club in November. He has a long-standing relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis after winning a league and cup double with Olympiacos in 2015.

His managerial career also spans Al Shabab, Flamengo, Corinthians, 1860 Munich, Al Ahli and Porto, plus two spells with Fenerbahce.

Forest are due in Istanbul next Thursday for the first leg of a Europa League play-off, before hosting Fenerbahce a week later. His first Premier League match would be at home to Liverpool on Sunday week, 22 February.
