Nottingham Forest are set to appoint Vitor Pereira as their new manager. Sky Sports reports that an agreement is in place for the Portuguese to take over at the City Ground.

Dyche departed in the early hours of Thursday after a 0-0 home draw with bottom side Wolves. Forest sit 17th in the Premier League, three points above the drop and three behind Leeds in 15th, with Tottenham Hotspur between them.

He oversaw 18 league games after replacing Ange Postecoglou, winning six. Only two victories came in his last 10 fixtures, a run worth nine points.

Pereira would be Forest’s fourth manager this season in a turbulent campaign. He kept Wolves up last season but was sacked earlier this term after a poor start, then replaced by Rob Edwards. The Midlands club have been contacted by Forest as part of the protocol, the report said.

If his appointment is finalised, Pereira will have a seven-day break to work with his squad before a Europa League play-off first leg at Fenerbahce in Istanbul on Thursday.

His first Premier League match will be at home to Liverpool on Sunday, 22nd February.

He cannot directly affect Leeds’ battle since the clubs have already played twice in 2025/26. Each meeting ended 3-1 to the hosts, Forest winning in November, then Leeds last Friday through Jayden Bogle, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Forest still face key games against relegation rivals, including Tottenham away in March and Burnley at home in April.
