Leeds United could face Nottingham Forest under a different head coach on the opening weekend after reports that Vitor Pereira’s position is in doubt. The Whites visit the City Ground on Saturday August 22.
Both clubs survived relegation last season, with Leeds finishing two places above Forest. Forest cycled through four managers in nine chaotic months.
Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked after three games before later taking West Ham down. Ange Postecoglou lasted 39 days, Sean Dyche 114, then Pereira signed an 18-month deal in February.
Fabrizio Romano reported on X that Pereira could be gone. The Telegraph reports that Oliver Glasner will take charge at the City Ground, the Austrian having left Crystal Palace after his contract expired.
In mid-May, David Ornstein of The Athletic reported Forest planned to hand Pereira a long-term contract and said the mood was extremely healthy. Two weeks ago, BBC Sport said talks were paused, despite Al-Hilal interest.
What has changed remains unclear. Ornstein also said Forest aimed to keep key players, yet they have since agreed a £116million sale of midfielder Elliot Anderson to Manchester City.
Any parting would add to a busy summer of Premier League changes. Ipswich Town have replaced Kieran McKenna with Gary O’Neil, while Palace, Fulham, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Liverpool and Manchester City will all have new managers.
