Nottingham Forest face a pivotal summer of tweaks as they try to return to Europe. According to Nottingham Post, calls loom on strikers, goalkeepers and loans.
Goals were an issue from last pre-season, improved under Vitor Pereira and Chris Wood’s return, but it still needs work, his knee managed and 2024/25 levels uncertain.
Taiwo Awoniyi is not a regular and has 12 months left, as does Wood. The buy option on Napoli loanee Lorenzo Lucca will not be taken, and with Eintracht Frankfurt trying to keep Arnaud Kalimuendo, another forward may be needed if the profile is right.
Matz Sels finished strongly and has a year left, so a decision on his future lies ahead. He was Pereira’s Premier League No.1, and back-up must be addressed.
If Stefan Ortega cannot be convinced to stay, amid signs he wants minutes, Forest face being left with Sels and John Victor once Angus Gunn departs. Talk of John returning to Brazil suggests a reshuffle. They may opt for youth or experience.
Pereira wants to keep the core together and does not foresee a major rebuild, though the market is unpredictable. Elliot Anderson’s future is the main unknown, and a smaller squad points to fringe exits.
John, Dan Ndoye and Nicolo Savona have attracted interest. Cuiabano stays with Vasco until December and Omar Richards leaves after Rio Ave. Frankfurt discuss a lower Kalimuendo fee. Carmo has been linked with Olympiacos, Jota is weighing options, and Forest want the right path for 21-year-old Bindon.
