Soumaïla Coulibaly (21) spent last season on loan at Stade Brestois from Borussia Dortmund. Whilst it was an injury-hit loan spell, the defender impressed when fit. However, the Breton club did not have the financial means to make the move permanent.

RC Strasbourg Alsace did. They signed the Paris Saint-Germain academy product for €8m. The defender missed the start of the season through injury, however, he has been available since the end of August. Despite his availability, he has not been utilised by Liam Rosenior, registering just three minutes of football, which came against Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Europa Conference League last week.

Struggling for game time at Strasbourg, he has now re-joined Brest on a ‘joker’ loan transfer until the end of the season, it was confirmed on Saturday. The deal does not include a purchase option, and so Coulibaly will return to Le Racing at the end of the current campaign.
