Albert Riera’s appointment as Eintracht Frankfurt’s next head coach has been officially confirmed. Kicker reports that Riera’s new Bundesliga outfit successfully negotiated down a demanded €5m-fee from Riera’s Slovenian club NK Celje to less than €1m. Riera will remain on the sidelines for Celje’s PrvaLiga fixture this coming Sunday. 

When is Albert Riera due to face the cameras?

Eintracht confirmed that Riera requested one final match with his now former club. An official SGE roll out is scheduled tor Monday. Those curious as to how Riera will handle German reporters shall receive a chance to assess the new head coach shall receive their chance at a Monday press conference. A precise time has not been announced yet. Eintracht shall remain under the stewardship of their interim coaching regime this weekend.

Frankfurt Statement on Riera’s signing

“In Albert Riera, we have deliberately chosen a coach who stands for modern and intense attacking football,” Eintracht Board Member for Sport Markus Krösche noted in a club statement. “He has international experience, a clear playing philosophy, and an equally clear approach to his daily work with the team. Albert impressed us with his professional depth and good communication skills.

“We’ve been tracking him for a very long time,” Krösche continued. “We’re convinced that his skills will harmonize well with Eintracht Frankfurt’s requirements in the near and long term. We’re also convinced that he is also a very good fit for the club and our team on a personal level.“
