Bundesliga outfit Hamburg have officially confirmed that repairs to their roof will enable this weekend’s Bundesliga fixture against Borussia Mönchengladbach to take place. Unfortunately, Tuesday’s home match against Bayer Leverkusen had to be postponed due to drainage problems on the retractable roof in the Volksparkstadion. 

On Thursday, HSV officials confirmed that the issue had been resolved. A team of workers made targeted repairs to the two sections of the roof affected and have also managed to raise the roof’s main catwalk up to its normal position. There remains snow to be cleared on the two sections, but – thanks to warming temperatures over the next few days – the remaining portions of the roof should drain normally.

“We are very pleased that the situation has eased thanks to the targeted work of a team working up top and the warming temperatures over the next few days,” stadium director Daniel Nolte noted in a club statement. “No lasting damage has been found. The remaining snow on the roof will now melt as planned in the next few days and drain away normally.”
