French giants OL Lyonnes have announced the signing of Giovanna Waksman Costa until the end of the 2027/28 season.
The eight-time European Champions have added the 16-year-old to their squad as they continue to build the next generation of winners.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Waksman began playing football at six years old. Touted as a ‘generational talent’, she was named by Goal in the top 25 teenage wonderkids in women’s football.
The Brazilian, who is signing her first professional contract, trained with a men’s team back home to add physicality to her game alongside her dribbling and technical prowess.
In 2022, Waksman moved to Florida to play football alongside her education. While playing for her high school team, the midfielder had an excellent goal return.
The club awarded her the Player of the Season for her efforts during the 2024/25 season. The 16-year-old has also trained with Washington Spirit, alongside Trinity Rodman, to further her talent.
On the international stage, she has progressed through the youth teams and joined the U17s in 2024. It was here that she won her first international piece of silverware, the U17 South American Championship, and earned the Player of the Tournament award.
Currently injured, Lyon will provided rehabilitation to ensure a smooth and quick recovery for the midfielder, who is taking the footballing world by storm.
