New Nottingham Forest head coach Oliver Glasner has set an ambitious tone, tempered with caution, before the Premier League opener against Leeds United.
The Austrian left Crystal Palace after lifting the Europa Conference League in May, having confirmed in January he would depart in the summer. According to yorkshireevenpost.co.uk, Forest appointed him earlier this month after parting with Vitor Pereira, and they host Leeds on Saturday 22 August.
Forest used four managers last season under owner Evangelos Marinakis during a relegation fight, finishing fifth-bottom, five points above the drop and three behind Leeds.
Speaking to the media for the first time on Thursday, Glasner said he and Marinakis share high ambition but warned that ambition alone does not guarantee success. He played down talk of silverware after two days in the job, calling instead for consistency and the right ingredients across the club.
He added that asking a team to do things differently can take three to six months, and repeated that he is not a magician. There is no button to press to win the Premier League, he said, only hard work and everyone supporting each other.
