Terry Devlin broke the game open in the 22nd minute with a right-footed strike, setting Portsmouth on course to beat Charlton Athletic 3-1. He added a second after the break (56.).
His opener, steered from outside the box (22.), followed a neat pass from Ebou Adams and shifted the momentum away from the hosts.
Before the interval he threatened again, forcing a low save with another drive from range (31.). Then he doubled his haul soon after the restart, finding the bottom right corner from distance (56.).
The Northern Ireland international finished with three shots on target and contributed defensively too, making four tackles, six clearances and three interceptions, a two-way display that kept Charlton at arm's length.
Portsmouth rise from 21st to 19th in the Championship. They visit Millwall next. Charlton Athletic travel to Southampton next.
