Olympique de Marseille executed a major reshuffle on Tuesday morning, with owner Frank McCourt reinstating Medhi Benatia and handing him greater authority over the sporting project.

It followed Benatia’s resignation as sporting director on Sunday and the departure of manager Roberto De Zerbi days earlier. According to GetFootballNewsFrance.com, Pablo Longoria now wants to leave rather than accept the new power structure at the Vélodrome.

Benatia will remain in post until the end of the season, and Longoria’s role would "evolve". The Moroccan now has full control of the sporting project.

The Spaniard will now discuss his exit with McCourt.

Longoria has been moved into a largely representative position as Benatia steers the club’s sporting agenda.
