Palmeiras cool interest in Thiago Almada after initial talks | OneFootball

Palmeiras have cooled their interest in Atlético de Madrid midfielder Thiago Almada after initial contacts, with short-term progress viewed as unlikely. The club are also working in the market to reinforce the squad for 2026.

According to Nosso Palestra, Palmeiras concluded from early conversations that Almada is not inclined to return to South American football at this time.

Talks began last week and no official proposal has been sent to Atlético de Madrid. A future negotiation is not ruled out, but nothing is imminent.

Signing a player in this position was not part of the football department’s original plan.

Even so, potential departures led the hierarchy to view Almada as a market opportunity to strengthen and to get ahead of planning. That thinking followed likely negotiations such as Allan, who has been targeted by European sides.
