Manchester United’s incoming signing Patrick Dorgu did not get off the bench in his last match for Lecce last night.
United agreed a deal with the Italians earlier in the week and it was widely reported that he would fly to Manchester later today to complete his medical.
Supporters of the Red Devils were a little worried as it was reported that Lecce wanted to keep Dorgu for their match against Parma but he ended up not playing a minute of action.
United fans were rightly nervous in case the 20 year old picked up an injury as the player is needed right away to fill the void on the left hand side that currently exists in the team.
The Salentini won the match 3-1 away from home as the Dane ended his time at the club on the perfect note and crucially for United, without kicking a ball.
Speaking after the match his soon-to-be former manager Marco Giampaolo confirmed, “it’s true, Patrick Dorgu will be flying to Manchester on Saturday.”
“He’s a fantastic player and guy. He always did his best for us. I didn’t play him tonight as his mind could be already there, Old Trafford.”
Lecce’s players were keen to mark the occasion and Fabrizio Romano posted the final picture of Dorgu with his teammates on his X account after the game against Parma.
Dorgu could also be seen after the match giving an emotional goodbye to the Lecce fans who had travelled to Parma.
The young Dane was encouraged to lap up the moment from his teammates before he begins this new exciting phase of his career.
He obviously won’t be part of the team that takes on Crystal Palace this Sunday as the deal will probably only be made official on that day.
Dorgu will likely target making his debut in the FA Cup versus Leicester City on Friday evening at Old Trafford.
