Patson Daka is close to joining Hamburger SV. BILD reports the Bundesliga club want the free agent striker and could add him to their pre-season camp in Austria. Sky Germany claims he is to sign a one-year contract with an option for a further 12 months after an agreement was reached.

Daka left Leicester at the end of his deal after five years at the King Power Stadium. The 27-year-old endured three relegations, including last season’s drop to League One.

City paid around £22million to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. He scored 29 goals in 165 appearances and has been unattached since departing.

Hamburg need attacking reinforcements after the exits of Ransford Königsdörffer, Robert Glatzel and loanee Damion Downs this summer.

His departure, alongside Jordan Ayew’s, has left City light up front before the 2026/27 season. Conor Chaplin has arrived under Russell Martin, and at least two more strikers are expected. Dom Ballard has been linked with a switch to LE2 after impressing at Leyton Orient last term, while Danny Ings is no longer joining.
