Pavel Sulc has been named in Czechia’s 26-man World Cup squad, finalised after Sunday’s 3-1 friendly win over Kosovo.

According to L'Équipe, the Lyon player is among the few squad members based outside the domestic league, with the Chance Liga providing 17 players, including 10 from Slavia Prague, champions for the second year running.

Sulc has been selected by head coach Miroslav Koubec for the tournament, which runs from 11 June to 19 July. He has 20 caps and five goals.

Among those playing abroad are two of the most capped players, Vladimir Coufal of Hoffenheim with 61 caps and Tomas Soucek of West Ham with 89. Patrick Schick of Bayer Leverkusen is also included.

Czechia will compete in Group A alongside South Africa, South Korea and Mexico, one of the tournament’s three hosts.
