Vasco da Gama president Pedrinho has been formally charged by the STJD over his post-match confrontation with referee Lucas Paulo Torezin, following the club’s fractious draw with Cruzeiro on 15 March. The complaint was filed on Sunday 29.

According to PaponaColina, the tribunal’s prosecutor deemed his backstage conduct extremely reprehensible, and a hearing date is yet to be set.

Tensions rose in second-half stoppage time, with Vasco down to 10 men and trying to slow the game. The flashpoint escalated in the Mineirão tunnel, where Pedrinho confronted the referee over two possible penalties not awarded.

Security intervened in the mixed zone, and a police officer deployed pepper spray to disperse the crowd, further angering Pedrinho and affecting journalists on site.

The complaint records that he accused the official of repeatedly harming Vasco away from home, citing the previous season at Palmeiras, criticised the missed penalties and added time, and called the referee arrogant and overbearing, warning that such arrogance would precede a fall.

Other Vasco personnel were also cited. Midfielder Cauan Barros, who was sent off, was charged under Article 254 of the CBJD for violent conduct.

Physiotherapist Aldo Mattos was charged with conduct contrary to sporting discipline after deliberately throwing a ball onto the pitch to disrupt play in the closing minutes. Football manager Clauber Rocha faces proceedings for entering the field after full-time to protest against the officiating.
