Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has broken his silence about a failed transfer from the club amidst swirling reports linking him with a move away from Chloorkop.

The prolific forward, signed for the defending champions in September 2020 on the back of winning the PSL Golden Boot after his exploits at Highlands Park.

Shalulile has been an integral part of Masandawana’s success over the past seasons. However, the Namibian international fell down the pecking orders in the wake of coach Miguel Cardoso’s arrival.

As a result, he was heavily linked with a transfer to Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis, while clubs in the Gulf region were said to be monitoring his situation, but a move never materialized – events he clarified.

“For now, I won’t lie to you guys, I’m back. Things didn’t go well, they were discussing and negotiating about paperwork, but I decided to call the chairman, and I told him that, ‘rather let me come back share my experience and fight for my position,’” said Shalulile.

The 31-year-old, who lifted eight trophies with Sundowns, including four league titles and the inaugural African Football [AFL], also touched on his record-breaking achievement of becoming the outright all-time top goal scorer in PSL history with 130 goals to his name.

“Glory be to God first of all, I’d like to thank all my teammates, the coaches and everyone who played a part in all the success I have achieved. I believe that I wouldn’t have done it without my teammates also,” he added.

“But I also want to thank the Mamelodi Sundowns president for giving me the opportunity to come to Sundowns and everyone, the staff for the support. It’s a great feeling but we strive for more goals, and we pray for many other goals to come.
