Faced with a flurry of questions about his squad choices, Vladimir Petkovic stood firm on his clear vision. Balancing competition, squad harmony, and the integration of young talents, the Algerian head coach fully owns his decisions. When asked about the makeup of his latest squad, Petkovic was quick to clarify the rationale behind his selections:

“A lot of new players have come in on the defensive end. I hope to find satisfaction and answers to our problems.”

The Greens’ boss thus reaffirms his intent to refresh certain positions while maintaining his squad’s competitive edge.

As for young prospects, the Swiss tactician made no secret of his desire to gradually bring through the next generation.

“Benkara and Titraoui, who I’ve known for a long time, are very young. I want to give Benkara the chance to experience what it means to be with the national team. For Titraoui, it’s different—he knows there’s a lot of competition in his area of the pitch.”

This philosophy is as much about testing as it is about developing the stars of tomorrow.

Petkovic also addressed the situation with Abdelli:

“As I said for Titraoui, it’s the same for Abdelli—the competition is fierce. He’s just come back from injury and has changed his role on the pitch. I chose to put my trust in others for now, but Abdelli remains a quality player who needs to improve his impact and dynamism.”

Finally, when pressed about Youcef Belaïli, the coach was resolute:

“He’s not the only one who wasn’t called up. There are six players missing compared to October.”

And he wrapped up with authority: “Every player thinks he’s better than the next, but I’m the one who makes the final decisions.” A statement that speaks volumes about his uncompromising management of the locker room.
