Police in Rio de Janeiro have recovered part of Vasco da Gama’s stolen sportswear consignment, a day after the 200-box load was taken on the Linha Amarela expressway.
According to PaponaColina, criminals intercepted the official shipment on Wednesday 25, prompting initial financial damage estimates of R$ 900,000.
The delivery had been scheduled for the club’s SAF headquarters and the Centro de Treinamento Moacyr Barbosa in the city’s Zona Sudoeste, but it failed to arrive on time. Nike, the club’s technical supplier responsible for the transport, alerted the board as soon as the truck was confirmed missing.
Police launched searches soon after, deploying teams to trace the goods and identify those behind the theft that disrupted the club’s logistics.
On Thursday 26, agents from the Delegacia de Roubos e Furtos de Cargas, DRFC, recovered a significant portion of the merchandise. Authorities re-estimated the total value of the 200 boxes at R$ 950,000.
The investigation remains active and under strict confidentiality. Officers continue to pursue all those involved in the armed robbery and to locate the remaining items belonging to the São Januário club.
