FC Porto are one win from the national title, with most of the squad chasing a first career triumph. Only 12 have previously lifted a national crown, and five of those did so in Portugal.
According to O Jogo, Porto could clinch it mathematically on Saturday by beating Alverca at an Estádio do Dragão expected to be packed.
A Sporting draw in Vila das Aves on Sunday night could bring forward celebrations for the club’s 31st league to 2 May.
With three rounds remaining, some still hope to add their names, including third-choice goalkeeper João Costa.
The squad intend to dedicate any success to the late Jorge Costa, with a poetic nod to his number 2. It would also be André Villas-Boas’s first national title as president, following his 2010/11 triumph as coach.
