Porto will need to reinforce their attack this summer to avoid a shortage of options for Francesco Farioli at the start of 2026/27, with Luuk de Jong potentially leaving and Samu set to miss the opening weeks.
In a recent interview, André Villas-Boas told Gazzetta dello Sport he expects Samu to return in September. The Spanish forward, sidelined by a serious right knee injury sustained in February, will miss all of pre-season, the Supertaça in early August, the first league rounds and possibly the Champions League opener.
As things stand, only Deniz Gul and Terem Moffi remain in the current squad. Moffi’s loan ends at the close of this season, though Porto hold an option to buy from Nice for six million euros.
A move into the market is therefore anticipated. Deniz Gul’s continuity is not assured, with interest from other clubs, and his valuation could be boosted by a likely World Cup finals appearance with Türkiye.
With departures possible and injuries biting, strengthening the forward line has become a priority as planning for next season advances.
