Pompey are seeking some competition for Colby Bishop to bolster their squad this month
Portsmouth are targeting a move for Ligue 2 striker Nesta Elphege in the January transfer window.
According to The News, John Mousinho is keen to bolster his options at striker before the window slams shut on February 2.
The forward currently plies his trade with Grenoble Foot, who are in their third consecutive season in the second tier of French football and are currently in 13th position.
The 25-year-old, who stands at 6ft 5in (1.96 metres) tall, has registered four goals and three assists in the league so far this season, as Grenoble look to maintain their place in the division.
However, they could be set to lose one of their key players this month if Pompey end up getting their way.

Mousinho is reportedly keen on bringing in a new number nine to Fratton Park to bolster the club’s chances of survival in the Championship.
Pompey are in their second season back at this level, but are at risk of relegation back to League One unless they can turn around their form.
It’s believed that the forward is rated at £1 million by Grenoble, but it remains to be seen whether the south coast outfit are willing to pay that to bring him across the English Channel from France.
Portsmouth have identified the Frenchman as an option due to his 6ft 5in size, and they are hoping he can provide the skills needed to have a big impact on the team’s attacking threat.
The Championship side have reportedly been conducting research on the player for months, and are now seeking a deal to bring him to English football.
The striker has a contract with Grenoble until the summer of 2027, meaning there is no immediate need for the Ligue 2 side to cash in this month.
Portsmouth are currently 21st in the Championship standings and just one point clear of the relegation zone ahead of their clash this weekend against struggling Sheffield Wednesday on January 17.

Elphege’s physical size could make him a good fit for life in the Championship, and could give Portsmouth a different kind of profile to their other striker options.
The 25-year-old has shown promise in Ligue 2, although there will be some concerns over his lack of consistent goals at that level.
Portsmouth are in desperate need of someone capable of finding the back of the net on a regular basis, and that will be key to their survival in the second division this season.
At a potential cost of £1 million, this is a risky deal but one that could prove quite fruitful if he adapts quickly to English football.
