The top two in the Power Rankings table met in a huge showdown this week, but has it impacted the standings?

10. Rennes 🆕

Rennes are a new entrant after roaring into the race for Champions League football in Ligue 1. The French side has won eight of their last 10 in all competitions, and four consecutive games in the league.

It’s tightened things up in the top-four race, with just a point between Lyon, Lille, and Rennes. Marseille, three further back, are also in the running.

9. Juventus  (Last week: 8th)

A credible point won at AC Milan for Juventus last weekend, but dropped points have allowed Como and Roma to close the gap. Both moved three points behind the Old Lady with wins, and it looks like one from three for the final Champions League space.

8. Inter Milan (Last week: 7th)

The Italian league leaders will have to wait to be crowned champions after blowing a two-goal lead at Torino. Inter were in complete control after Marcus Thuram and Yann Bisseck goals, but conceded twice in the final 20 minutes to draw. The title party was delayed, but perhaps only until Sunday. A win at Parma will confirm the Scudetto.

7. Manchester City (Last week: 9th)

Manchester United are almost there when it comes to Champions League qualification.

A 2-0 win over Brentford means the Red Devils need just two points from their final three games, with Michael Carrick having done a remarkable job.

Casemiro’s command in the air and Bruno Fernandes’ relentless pursuit of the Premier League assist record have propelled their charge.

6. Real Madrid ↔

Real Madrid’s season is sadly fizzling out with a whimper. Hector Bellerin was the unlikely hero as Real Betis snatched a last-gasp draw in La Liga, a result that leaves Barcelona on the brink of the title.

Los Blancos are heading to a season without silverware, and a rebuild is on the horizon. The return of Jose Mourinho has been mooted

5. Arsenal ↔

Arsenal needed a big week and Mikel Arteta got a response from his players.

A 1-0 win over Newcastle was nervy but important, before battling to a 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final. Arsenal are one Emirates win from the Champions League final.

4. Barcelona ↔

Barcelona need a maximum of five points from their final games to secure the La Liga title. Fermin Lopez and Marcus Rashford got the goals as the Catalans cruised to a 2-0 win over Getafe, capitalising on a slip-up from Spanish rivals Real Madrid. Success would make it back-to-back titles for Barca, an achievement Real Madrid haven’t managed since 2008.

3. Manchester City ↔

The domestic treble is on. Manchester City survived a scare to book their place in the FA Cup final last weekend, securing a comeback win over Southampton despite falling behind after 79 minutes. Nico Gonzalez’s glorious goal sent the Citizens into a record-breaking fourth straight FA Cup decider.

2. PSG ↔

A massive week for Paris Saint-Germain who took a giant leap towards the Ligue 1 title and Champions League final.

A 3-0 win over Angers moved Luis Enrique’s side six points clear in France with four games to go, before the absolute carnage that was their Champions League win over Bayern Munich.

An absurd nine-goal game ended 5-4 in PSG’s favour, ahead of an unmissable return in Munich. It’s advantage PSG, but not quite enough to knock Bayern off top spot in this list, just yet

1. Bayern Munich ↔

Bayern Munich fans have certainly got their money’s worth in recent weeks. There has been an average of six goals per game across the club’s last six fixtures, including two bonkers games this past week.

The German giants recovered from 3-0 down at half-time to beat Mainz 4-3 at the weekend, before losing 5-4 at PSG in that aforementioned thriller.

Do not miss that return next Wednesday.
