Luis Enrique put Paris Saint-Germain on “the roof of Europe” last summer, in the words of French President Emmanuel Macron. The Spaniard was the man who gave the Ligue 1 club their holy grail, beating Inter Milan to lift their maiden UEFA Champions League title.
Luis Enrique’s deal with PSG runs until 2027 and, in recent times, with lots of managerial positions expected to be vacated at some of Europe’s biggest clubs, he has been linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes. Notably, there have been links with a move to Manchester United, although L’Équipe reported last month that Michael Carrick may succeed in remaining in the role beyond the end of the season.
And Luis Enrique, in any case, may not be an attainable target. RMC Sport understands that there have been positive talks between PSG and the Spaniard regarding an extension that would run until 2030. A renewal, the publication adds, would see him become one of the top three highest-paid managers in Europe.
