A round-up of all the latest news surrounding QPR's vacant manager position
QPR are still on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Marti Cifuentes.
The Spaniard guided the Hoops to 15th in the Championship last term, before deciding to leave Loftus Road.
Cifuentes was placed on gardening leave by the club, allowing them to receive compensation when the 42-year-old eventually joins another team.
Here we look at all the latest news surrounding QPR’s manager pursuit this summer…
It has been reported by Danish outlet Bold that QPR are eyeing up a move for Randers manager Rasmus Bertelsen.
However, Randers’ football director, Søren Pedersen, has claimed that no contact has been made with the Superliga side for Bertelsen’s services.
“Basically, there is a lot of talk about coaches and players, and we just see it as something positive that there are clubs that could be interested, it just shows that we have done well, which Rasmus also has,” said Pedersen, via Tipsbladet.
"I think it's positive, but I also know, because I'm in close dialogue with Rasmus, that he's happy to be here and we're happy for him, he's a big part of the very ambitious and exciting project we have going on.
“Our strategy is to continue that development, and Rasmus is definitely part of that.
"I haven't heard anything about it, so I don't know anything about it.
“There hasn't been anything on my desk in any case.”
Former Norwich City boss, Johannes Hoff Thorup, was in talks with QPR to replace Cifuentes, but that deal now looks dead in the water.
Danish outlet Tipsbladet have stated that Thorup rejected the opportunity to take on his second managerial stint in England, despite being deep in negotiations with the Hoops.
He had reportedly gone as far as travelling to London for talks, but decided the opportunity wasn’t for him.
It seemed like it was only a matter of time before Thorup took over at Loftus Road, but the two parties have decided not to enter a partnership.
A coach with a clear tactical philosophy and a calm presence in the dugout, Julien Stephan is also a front-runner for the QPR job, according to LondonWorld.
The 44-year-old guided Rennes to their first-ever Champions League group stage appearance and delivered a historic Coupe de France triumph in 2019, Les Rouge et Noirs’ first major trophy in nearly half a century.
Stephan was touted to take over from Thierry Henry at the helm of the France U21 side, before Gerald Baticle was handed the post.
He has been out of work since being dismissed by Rennes in November 2024, after a poor start to the Ligue One campaign.
With news emerging over the Hoops’ interest in Bertelsen, Stephan may not be the club’s first choice, but is still in the picture in case negotiations fall through with yet another manager.
