QPR are searching for a permanent replacement for Martí Cifuentes

Randers manager Rasmus Bertelsen has yet to receive concrete interest in his services amid links to QPR.

It was previously reported by Danish outlet Bold that the London outfit were eyeing a move for the coach after being rejected by ex-Norwich City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup.

The Hoops are searching for their next manager after Martí Cifuentes departed the club at the end of last season.

QPR will be hoping to appoint somebody that can build on their 15th place finish in the Championship under the Spaniard.

Rasmus Bertelsen latest

Randers’ football director Soren Pedersen has claimed that no contact has been made with the Superliga side for manager Bertelsen amid this QPR interest.

He revealed that he is in constant discussions with the coach, and that the 41-year-old’s made it clear that he’s happy at the club.

“Basically, there is a lot of talk about coaches and players, and we just see it as something positive that there are clubs that could be interested, it just shows that we have done well, which Rasmus also has,” said Pedersen, via Tipsbladet.

"I think it's positive, but I also know, because I'm in close dialogue with Rasmus, that he's happy to be here and we're happy for him, he's a big part of the very ambitious and exciting project we have going on.

“Our strategy is to continue that development, and Rasmus is definitely part of that.

"I haven't heard anything about it, so I don't know anything about it.

“There hasn't been anything on my desk in any case.”

Rasmus Bertelsen's contract situation

Pedersen has also claimed that Bertelsen has no release clause, and that it will have to take a big offer for them to release the coach, who has a contract until the summer of 2028.

"Just like our players, there is a price to pay if you need to bring in our talented employees - and that also applies to a coach,” he added.

“If it comes to pass, I see it as something positive.

“We have a long agreement with Rasmus and know that he's happy to be in Randers.

“So if something is to happen, it must be extraordinary.

“If that happens, we'll find a solution - there are other talented coaches out there.”

Bertelsen led Randers to fourth place in the Danish Superliga last season.

QPR need to act swiftly with Bertelsen pursuit

QPR have now been told quite clearly what it will take to appoint Bertelsen as manager, so need to act quickly and decisively on what to do next.

They cannot afford to waste time in their search for a new head coach after being turned down by Thorup, as a manager will need to start planning for next season.

The 41-year-old could follow in the same footsteps as Cifuentes, who arrived from Scandinavian football as well and turned out to be a great appointment.

But if they’re not willing to stump up the cash to get him from Randers, then they must move on and search for their next target quickly.
