One month after receiving a lengthy jail term in Spain, Rafa Mir has been authorised by a court in Valencia to leave Sevilla and complete a move to Aris Thessaloniki. The permission was granted on Wednesday.

The striker was sentenced in mid-June to eight and a half years, seven for sexual assault plus 18 months for assault. Mundo Deportivo reports that he must check in once a month at the Spanish consulate in Greece to confirm his regular presence at his new home in the north of the country.

Mir had already reached an agreement with Sevilla over a summer exit. He remains under contract with the club until summer 2027.

The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at Elche, scoring 8 times in 29 appearances.

He was pursued by several Spanish second-tier teams but has chosen Aris as his next destination in the Greek top flight.
