Kayke and Yuri Alberto scored after the interval to secure the result.

Díaz led Corinthians from July 2024 to April 2025, taking charge of 58 matches and recording 30 wins, 16 draws and 12 defeats. He lifted the Campeonato Paulista against Palmeiras.

After Dorival Júnior’s exit, his assistant and son, Emiliano Díaz, expressed interest in returning. The board chose not to pursue a reunion with the same staff about a year after their departure, and both remain without a club after leaving Internacional at the end of 2025.

President Osmar Stabile and football executive Marcelo Paz selected Diniz as Dorival’s successor, with the coach available since his February departure from Vasco da Gama.

Corinthians next play on Sunday, facing Palmeiras at 18:30 in the 11th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro at Neo Química Arena.
