Roma are preparing for a decisive end to the season, with the aim of remaining competitive on two fronts: the race for the Champions League through the league and the Europa League, with the round of 16 against Athletic Bilbao.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Claudio Ranieri is studying a targeted management of resources, balancing the team’s fitness levels between the two competitions.
The coach is aiming for a strategic turnover: in Serie A the bench players and youngsters will be used, while in Europe he will rely on the starters.
The choice is also dictated by the standings: a victory against Monza would bring the Giallorossi even closer to the Champions League zone, considering the recent slowdowns of Bologna, Milan and Fiorentina.
Tomorrow, against the Brianza team, there will be space for Shomurodov in attack, with Dovbyk still unavailable.
The new signings such as Gourna-Douath, Salah-Eddine and Nelsson will also make an appearance, while the midfield will be entrusted to Cristante or Paredes, with the latter suspended for the first leg against Bilbao. A plan designed to remain competitive on both fronts and maximize the chances of success.
