Real Madrid are confident of signing Manchester City midfielder Rodri for a fee worth £43 million, according to Spanish outlet AS. 

Madrid are looking to upgrade their midfield options and have identified Rodri as an ideal option. 

The Spaniard is keen to join the La Liga giants, having refused to extend his contract at the Etihad Stadium. 

However, City are not prepared to part with their highly influential midfielder this summer as they view him a key part of their plans for the 2026-27 season. 

If the English giants decide to sell the 30-year-old, they will likely demand a much higher fee than £43m. 

Rodri is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in world football, known for his passing, composure, aerial dominance and stamina. 

The former Atletico Madrid star reinforced his reputation during the 2026 World Cup, playing a pivotal role in helping Spain lift the golden trophy for the first time since 2010.

He was awarded the tournament’s Golden Ball for his impressive performances in the United States. 

Rodri’s time at Man City has been greatly successful, winning four Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League trophy. 

He has made 298 appearances across all competitions, bagging 28 goals and 32 assists in the process. 

But the Spain international now wants a return to La Liga to play under manager Jose Mourinho.
