As Real Madrid step into a new era under Xabi Alonso, questions remain about several positions — but perhaps none more so than the goalkeeping department.
While much of the talk this summer has revolved around new arrivals like Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen, Andriy Lunin finds himself once again on uncertain ground.
According to a report from Diario AS, despite Thibaut Courtois dealing with serious injury setbacks, including a most recent knock that was confirmed by Real Madrid earlier in the day, the Belgian remains the undisputed No. 1 at Madrid.
Under Carlo Ancelotti, that much was clear – and even with the arrival of Xabi Alonso, there are no signs that the hierarchy will change.
Lunin was long expected to leave the club this summer when his contract ran out. However, in a surprising twist, he penned a renewal last September that extends his stay until 2030.

The deal included a salary bump and appeared to signal growing trust from the club. But it hasn’t translated into a guaranteed starting role.
The report adds that Real Madrid are open to listening to offers for the Ukrainian international ahead of a busy summer.
Galatasaray are showing concrete interest in the Ukrainian. The Turkish giants are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping position ahead of next season and view Lunin as a top target.
Madrid could be tempted to cash in, especially if a suitable offer arrives. As for Lunin, the opportunity to be a first-choice keeper elsewhere might be too good to turn down. But given the way he has reacted to these situations in the past, nothing can be ruled out for now.
