Real Madrid have officially issued a powerful statement of solidarity supporting Kylian Mbappe following a barrage of racist and xenophobic attacks launched by Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla.
The club’s definitive show of support comes following France’s fiery 1-0 World Cup victory over Paraguay, following which the South American politician targeted the forward with highly offensive online remarks.
The record European champions wasted no time in leaping to the defence of their superstar forward, using their global platform to demand institutional accountability.
In an official communique, Los Blancos made their absolute intolerance for discriminatory behaviour clear, especially coming from a high-ranking public official.
The club’s formal statement addressed the situation directly:
“Real Madrid C.F. wishes to express its strongest condemnation of the deplorable racist and xenophobic remarks made by Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla against our player Kylian Mbappe.
“Our club strongly condemns these types of statements, which are unbecoming of a political representative, and expresses its full support for our player Kylian Mbappe, who is a role model for millions of people, and especially for children around the world.
“These hate-inciting behaviors have no place in society. Football and sport are platforms for equality and solidarity, and Real Madrid will continue working to eradicate racism, xenophobia, and violence forever.”
While Real Madrid’s powerful defence remains the absolute crux of the backlash, a wide network of international bodies swiftly echoed the sentiment through targeted, official reactions.
The French Football Federation (FFF) immediately took legal action, filing an official complaint with the public prosecutor’s office after denouncing the senator’s remarks as criminal and utterly abhorrent.
Concurrently, FIFA President Gianni Infantino publicly declared that the entire football world stands in complete alignment with the France captain against discrimination.

Additionally, UEFA and United States tournament organisers also reinforced their strict tournament-wide anti-hatred policies, confirming that political figures have no immunity when violating sporting codes of ethics.
The United Nations human rights representatives also issued a statement noting that racism from elected officials severely undermines international diplomacy.
Finally, the Paraguayan government formally contacted French President Emmanuel Macron, who himself made a post on X in support of the forward, to explicitly distance the state from Amarilla, declaring her words to be her sole individual responsibility.
Amid the escalating uproar, Amarilla published an open letter expressing partial regret, though she simultaneously accused Mbappe of “gender-based violence” in his direct rebuttal.
