According to journalist Mario Cortegana in The Athletic, the atmosphere surrounding Vinicius Jr. has shifted noticeably following his standout performance against AS Monaco.
Sources close to the Brazilian have confirmed that the display was described as ‘essential’, as it helped restore a sense of normality at a time when pressure around the player had been steadily building.
For Real Madrid, securing Vinicius Jr’s future remains one of the club’s top priorities.
However, despite that urgency, an agreement between the two parties is still a long way off, with discussions yet to reach a decisive stage.
On the pitch, Vinicius delivered a performance that left little room for doubt about his importance.
Against Monaco, he scored one goal, provided two assists, and played a decisive role in forcing an own goal during Madrid’s emphatic 6-1 victory.
In total, he directly contributed to four of the six goals, producing one of his most complete performances of the season at a moment when scrutiny was at its highest.
What made the night even more significant was the context surrounding it. Just days earlier, the Santiago Bernabeu crowd had once again expressed its frustration by booing the Brazilian.

The Monaco match, therefore, was not just about numbers but about restoring confidence and reaffirming his standing within the team.
These events come at a particularly sensitive time in Vinicius Jr’s career.
With his contract running until 2027 and renewal talks still unresolved, every performance and gesture is being closely analysed.
On Tuesday night, his representative was present at the Bernabeu, a detail that quickly fuelled speculation within the Spanish media that negotiations might finally be progressing.
In reality, though, talks between Madrid and Vinicius’ camp have been ongoing for over a year and the lack of a breakthrough is largely due to financial differences.
Real Madrid have remained firm on their salary structure, and for that reason, the club has not been enthusiastic about using large renewal bonuses as a shortcut to agreement.
There is also a sporting factor at play. Internally, Madrid have always wanted Vinicius to fully recover and consistently display his best level before committing to a major financial step.
Performances like the one against Monaco strengthen his position, but they do not instantly resolve a complex negotiation.
