Real Madrid can place one foot in the Copa del Rey final on Wednesday evening when they visit Real Sociedad in the first leg of their last four tie.

Los Blancos progressed to the last 16 of the Champions League last week and followed up their victory over Manchester City by beating Girona in La Liga on Sunday afternoon. The result moved them back level on points with title rivals Barcelona as hopes of a treble grow.

The Copa del Rey could be the first piece of silverware Carlo Ancelotti's side claim in 2025 and they are strong favourites to overcome 2019/20 winners Real Sociedad in the semis. They will want to take a buffer back to the Santiago Bernabeu to avoid being the butt of the joke in the second leg on April Fools' Day.

Here is how Madrid could line up for their trip to San Sebastian.

GK: Andriy Lunin - Lunin has been preferred in the Copa del Rey this season and could be restored to the XI ahead of first choice Thibaut Courtois. The Ukrainian is a reliable deputy whenever needed.

RB: Lucas Vazquez - The Spaniard made his return from injury on Sunday and helped Madrid keep a clean sheet in their victory over Girona. He's now racked up 33 appearances this season in the absence of the injured Dani Carvajal.

CB: Raul Asencio - The 22-year-old has been mightily impressive amid defensive injuries this season and has seldom looked out of his depth. He will be tested by Euro 2024 matchwinner Mikel Oyarzabal.

CB: Antonio Rudiger - David Alaba's return to the starting lineup offered Rudiger the opportunity to rest at the weekend in preparation for Wednesday's encounter. The colossal German has been excellent again this season.

LB: Fran Garcia - Ferland Mendy and Garcia have shared minutes throughout the campaign and the Spaniard could enter the lineup this week having spent the last two games on the bench.

CM: Aurelien Tchouameni - Tchouameni wasn't overly stretched at the weekend as he anchored the midfield alongside the impressive Luka Modric. He will expect to be worked harder at Reale Arena.

CM: Dani Ceballos - Modric produced an inspired performance to help Madrid to victory on Sunday but the 39-year-old doesn't have the legs to start twice in just a few days. Ceballos has been in impressive form himself recently.

RW: Rodrygo - The Brazilian will be aiming to end his seven-game goal drought against Real Sociedad, whom he has bagged against just once in ten previous duels.

AM: Jude Bellingham - Bellingham is still suspended in La Liga but his ban doesn't carry over into the Copa del Rey. The England international will feature in his preferred attacking midfield role before returning to the sidelines against Real Betis next up.

LW: Vinicius Junior - Vinicius produced his 18th goal of the season against Girona and will be aiming to add to his tally against Wednesday's in-form Basque opponents. He scored at Reale Arena in the 2-0 win earlier this season.

ST: Kylian Mbappe - The superstar's run of four consecutive games with a goal wasn't stretched to five on Sunday, but he did manage an assist against Girona. Mbappe has scored in all three duels he's had with Real Sociedad as both a Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain player.
