Alvaro Rodriguez, the 21-year-old striker, made a strong impression at Real Madrid in 2023 when he scored against Atletico Madrid on debut.
At the time, it appeared the club had found its traditional No. 9, and from their own academy. However, the youngster did not get many opportunities from thereon under Carlo Ancelotti, and he ended up leaving on loan for Getafe last summer.
Now that his time at Getafe is over, Rodriguez is back at Real Madrid but has revealed that he is seeking a departure this summer as he cannot keep waiting for a chance to break into the first-team setup.
“I think I have to leave; I can’t wait much longer for the first team,” he confessed in an interview with Post United (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
However, the Uruguayan striker added that his dream remains to play for Real Madrid and he will keep working towards achieving that, even if it means leaving for now.
“I’ll continue on my path with the goal of returning. My dream is to play for Real Madrid, and I’m going to fight to achieve it, but to do that, I have to leave first,” he noted.

The youngster has no shortage of interest, with four La Liga clubs keeping tabs on him, although a return to Getafe does not seem likely.
Rodriguez also reflected on his goal against Atletico Madrid which earned Real Madrid a 1-1 draw on the night.
“I didn’t know what to do when I scored. I didn’t know I was going to play that game. When they sent me to warm up, I was already freaking out,” he reminisced.
Continuing, the 21-year-old added: “I remember that night I went to dinner with my girlfriend and the whole restaurant was looking at me.
“It had never happened to me before; people knew me, it was a strange situation. From then on, it was crazy. I couldn’t go anywhere, I was overwhelmed.”
Alvaro also shared his experience with Real Madrid’s previous coaching staff, particularly his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti and Davide Ancelotti, saying:
“He didn’t talk much with me. The one who talked to me the most was Davide, whom I have a special affection for. Ancelotti is a leader and lets the locker room belong to the players.”
