RB Leipzig made a real statement on Sunday evening in their win over Hamburger SV. The Red Bulls took all three points home with them, as well as a great deal of self-confidence.

A first comeback victory

For the first time this season, Ole Werner's side came from behind to win a Bundesliga match. "We didn't get nervous. We just stuck to our plan," said RBL's head coach.

Captain David Raum was also proud of the team. He emphasised the value of a comeback win and suggested it could "trigger something". The victory has made it clear that even when playing in such a heated atmosphere and being a goal down, RB Leipzig are always a force to be reckoned with.

Rômulo sparks comeback

Rômulo played a major role in Sunday's victory. Our Brazilian striker opened the scoring with a magical back-heel, before going on to set up the equally impressive winner scored by Yan Diomande .

A strong performance was almost capped off by a second goal. His 62nd minute penalty was saved by HSV's goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes, who became only the second goalkeeper to deny Rômulo from the spot in his entire career.

Diomande nets his ninth

Yan Diomande once again showed off his instinct in front of goal, scoring his ninth goal of the Bundesliga season. His first goal of the season came against next weekend's opponents Augsburg, before he found the back of the net again against Stuttgart and Hoffenheim.

His highlight of the season is surely the hat trick in the home game against Frankfurt. Against St. Pauli, Yan scored the first Leipzig goal at the Millerntor-Stadion, before goals eight and nine followed against Wolfsburg and HSV

Only Christoph Baumgartner has scored more goals for RBL this season (10).

Volksparkstadion conquered

Hamburger SV have turned their home ground, the Volksparkstadion, into a real fortress this season. HSV's home record against the top teams in the league speaks for itself. Bayern München, Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart all failed win when they visited the Volksparkstadion.

Hamburg has always been a happy hunting ground for the Red Bulls - we've won all four games we've played at the Volksparkstadion in both the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.

Perfect record continues

RB Leipzig's perfect record against promoted sides in the Bundesliga this season was also extended on Sunday.

The Red Bulls have now won both games against HSV, as well as completing the double over 1. FC Köln. This means Ole Werner's side have now won a maximum 12 points against promoted sides this campaign. The win over HSV also extended Leipzig's unbeaten run against newly promoted sides to 40 games - a record that stretches back to the club's founding.
