Régis Le Bris says Enzo Le Fée’s sharp pre-season finishing underlines the midfielder’s growing influence for Sunderland ahead of 2026/27. According to Sunderland Echo, the head coach has been encouraged by the 26-year-old’s early form and added goal threat.

Le Fée netted a long-range strike against Liverpool in the 4-2 defeat at the weekend, having opened his summer with a brace at York City a week earlier. It follows an upturn late last season when a return to his preferred central role made him a greater threat from open play.

“In this central corridor, he's brilliant,” Le Bris said.

“He can connect with the other midfielders with mobility, freedom. The connection with the centre backs and others is improving as well. He's a creative player and if after that he can become even more decisive [in front of goal], he's going to be even more impactful in games.”

After an open training session for supporters on Sunday, Sunderland’s US tour moves to New Jersey to face Leeds United. His squad will be bolstered by the returns of Noah Sadiki, Habib Diarra, Robin Roefs, Brian Brobbey, Arthur Masuaku and Simon Adingra following their World Cup commitments.

“It's going to be positive,” Le Bris said. He added that the first group have worked really well and those arriving now will find a core already in place, so they must quickly connect. He believes the World Cup experience will be significant and useful for their development.
