Régis Le Bris says Robin Roefs will be fit to return when Sunderland face Spurs on Sunday afternoon, while Simon Moore is out with a broken hand. According to Sunderland Echo, the head coach set out the latest team news ahead of Sunday’s meeting.
Roefs has not featured since the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth in late February because of a hamstring issue, though he returned to training this week.
Dan Ballard remains sidelined with a hamstring problem, and Le Bris hinted he could be back to face Aston Villa next Sunday. He added that Ballard and Nilson Angulo are close to returning but it is likely to come too soon for Tottenham.
Also sidelined are Jocelin Ta Bi, Romaine Mundle and Bertrand Traoré for the Spurs game.
Nordi Mukiele, Enzo Le Fée and Reinildo are in contention to start after returning to the squad at St James’ Park before the recent break. Le Bris said they are physically prepared to compete in the Premier League.
The head coach expects a stern test from Tottenham under Roberto De Zerbi, noting their quality and that momentum has been hard to find this season.
