Stade Rennais have won the race to sign American international Bryan Reynolds (25), according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri. The Westerlo defender bid farewell to his teammates on Wednesday and is expected in Brittany within the next 48 hours to finalise the transfer. The deal is worth around €4.5m, with the defender set to sign a four-year contract
Rennes have beaten Scottish giants Rangers to the full-back’s signature after the Ibrox side saw an earlier bid worth around €2.5m rejected by Westerlo. Although Rangers remained interested in striking a deal, Les Rouges et Noirs accelerated negotiations in recent days before reaching an agreement for the United States international.
Reynolds arrives after an impressive spell in the Belgian Pro League, where he established himself as one of Westerlo’s standout performers. The former AS Roma defender had entered the final year of his contract, prompting several clubs to monitor his situation before Rennes have seemingly secured his signature.
