FC Bayern are pressing ahead with their personnel planning for the summer and are apparently once again turning their attention to an old acquaintance. According to the latest reports, the Munich club are looking at signing Kai Havertz. The Arsenal FC international could play a very specific role at Säbener Straße
With the imminent departure of on-loan striker Nicolas Jackson, the German record champions have a need in attack. Behind Harry Kane, they lack a reliable alternative who can be deployed both in the center of attack and flexibly in other attacking roles. This is exactly where Havertz comes into play
The 26-year-old has a profile that has been valued by Bayern for years. The Munich club had already looked closely at him in 2020, when he was still at Bayer Leverkusen, but lost out due to the high transfer fee. Now a second chance could arise
According to English transfer expert Charles Watts, several top clubs are monitoring the attacking player’s situation – including FC Bayern. Arsenal are said to be open to a sale in the summer, provided a suitable offer is received

From a sporting point of view, Havertz would fit well into Vincent Kompany’s system. His ability to operate between the lines, open up spaces and be flexible in different positions makes him an interesting option. As a playmaking striker, he could also bring a different dynamic to Bayern’s game than a classic backup for Kane
However, the potential transfer also entails risks. Firstly, there is the transfer fee: while his market value is currently estimated at around €50 million, Arsenal are likely to demand significantly more. The Gunners themselves invested around €75 million in 2023 and will hardly be prepared to sell the international for less than he is worth
On the other hand, the attacking player’s injury history raises questions. Havertz has missed more than 60 games since moving to London and has only made 835 appearances so far this season, in which he has scored five goals and provided four assists
At Säbener Straße, they are therefore likely to carefully examine whether such a deal is worthwhile. Those responsible around Max Eberl continue to pursue the strategy of making targeted and economically sensible investments. An expensive transfer for a backup player would actually contradict this approach.
