Chelsea are one of six clubs who have made contact with the representatives of Lille striker Jonathan David according to reports.

The Blues are likely to have another busy summer and it’s claimed they will sell as many as seven or eight players to fund their moves in the market.

Chelsea face arguably their most important window under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership, with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker.

Chelsea make contact for David

The Blues failed to sign a striker last summer despite being in negotiations with Victor Osimhen for the majority of the window, whilst they also failed to address the issue in January.

Chelsea paid the ultimate price with both Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu picking up injuries against West Ham on deadline day.

Enzo Maresca’s men are said to be leading the race for Liam Delap, whilst they are also thought to hold an interest in Benjamin Sesko, but would likely face competition from Arsenal for the 21-year-old.

However, it appears there could be another name on Chelsea’s list and The I Paper have reported they’ve made contact with David’s representatives.

The report adds Newcastle, Liverpool, West Ham, Manchester United and Tottenham have also all made contact in what’s set be a fierce race for the Canadian.

The I Paper state David’s camp are said to be impressed by the plans at West Ham under Graham Potter, with Chelsea said to be less appealing due to the number of forward players at the club.

David will be available on a free transfer this summer and he’s been in great form this season with 14 goals in Ligue 1 and nine in the Champions League, although there could be a large signing on fee.

It’s been reported Chelsea sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old in action earlier this season, with one club set to get a bargain with David this summer and Chelsea could do a lot worse than signing him.
