FC Barcelona have enjoyed an unbelievable start to life back at Spotify Camp Nou. The renovated stadium has become a fortress, with the team yet to drop a point since returning home.
However, yesterday we covered a structural issue that seems to be causing visibility problems for a section of the seating in the stadium. Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, the visibility problem at the renovated Spotify Camp Nou may already have a fairly simple solution.
After complaints emerged from supporters seated behind the goals, particularly in the initial rows of the first tier, the report argues that the quickest way to improve the situation would be to move the static advertising boards as far back as possible, closer to the stands and further away from the goal line.
The issue itself remains a serious one. The report notes that from as far back as row 28 of the first tier in the South Goal, supporters are still unable to see the full goal properly because the static advertising blocks the goal line and the lower part of the posts.
Visibility is even worse from other seats in the same section, making it a major source of frustration for fans. In theory, the cleanest fix would be to remove the advertising from behind the goals entirely.
However, the report acknowledges that such a move would be costly in financial terms because it would affect club revenue. That is why the more realistic proposal is not removal, but repositioning.
Barcelona have already dealt with a similar issue before. Back in 2015, when the television “U” advertising structure was obstructing views behind the goals, the boards were moved further back, and visibility reportedly improved significantly.
For Barcelona, then, the challenge is clear. The slope of the lower stand is no longer going to be changed, so the club must look for practical alternatives. Shifting the advertising boards backward could be the most realistic way to make sure supporters can actually see the goal they came to watch.
