Report – The main reason behind Yan Diomande’s delayed transfer to Real Madrid | OneFootball

The official announcement of Yan Diomande’s move from RB Leipzig to Real Madrid has been delayed due to an ongoing dispute between two agencies over the player’s representation, reports AS.

On one side is Maxidel Management, led by former Ivory Coast international Max Gradel. On the other is Roc Nation, the global sports agency owned by Jay-Z, which currently represents Diomande.

Maxidel has filed a complaint with FIFA, claiming there was a breach of contract after Real Madrid negotiated the transfer through Roc Nation instead of them.

Maxidel previously handled Diomande’s move from Leganes to RB Leipzig, and the dispute now extends beyond the two agencies, directly affecting the transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Under FIFA regulations, the case could temporarily complicate Diomande’s registration.

Real Madrid were unaware of the legal dispute and consider themselves uninvolved in the disagreement.

The club remain confident that the issue will eventually be resolved in their favour, but for now they must wait while FIFA reviews the complaint.

A likely solution would be for FIFA to grant Diomande a provisional registration, allowing him to play while the dispute over agent commissions is settled.

As per the report, everything else surrounding the transfer is already in place. The transfer agreement with RB Leipzig has been secured, with the payment structure also agreed between both clubs.

Moreover, the player’s long-term contract with Real Madrid has also been finalised and all the required documentation is ready.

The remaining obstacle is FIFA’s approval.

FIFA reviewing the complaint

FIFA closely regulates football agents and representation agreements and is currently examining the complaint.

In some cases, disputes between agents can delay or even prevent the issuance of the International Transfer Certificate (ITC), which is required to complete an international transfer.

Clubs also have a strong incentive to ensure the correct agent receives commission, as paying the wrong representative can lead to disciplinary consequences.

However, FIFA generally prioritizes a player’s right to work. Even when contractual disputes exist, the governing body often allows players to register with their new clubs while legal or financial claims continue separately.

The origin of the dispute

Maxidel played a key role in Diomande’s rise, arranging his transfer from Leganés to RB Leipzig.

The dispute began after Diomande switched representation earlier this year and joined Roc Nation, one of football’s most influential agencies.

During his summer break following the World Cup, Diomande remained in the United States and visited Roc Nation’s headquarters in New York.

He was also invited to attend one of Jay-Z’s events at Yankee Stadium, having previously met the music icon during the World Cup before the Brazil vs. Ivory Coast match.

Throughout the visit, Diomande was hosted by Michael Yormark, president of Roc Nation Sports International.

It was Roc Nation that conducted negotiations with Real Madrid. For now, both the club and the player are waiting for FIFA to resolve the dispute between the two agencies so the transfer can finally be made official.
