Lewandowski will officially be a free agent next month following Barcelona exit

This is the view of former Man United forward Giuseppe Rossi, who claims the 37-year-old still has a lot to offer at the highest level despite being released by Barcelona at the end of the season.

"In an exclusive interview with Ozoon about the FIFA World Cup, Rossi said: "Robert Lewandowski to Man Utd? Yeah, why not?

“Of course, Lewandowski would be an incredible asset for the young players, providing his experience and big-game knowledge.

"With Benjamin Sesko being a young, growing player, having someone like Lewandowski on the team would only benefit him.

"It's a no-brainer. He has a huge resume and on a short-term deal, it’s a win-win."

Sesko joined Man Utd from RB Leipzig for £73.7million last summer and initially struggled to deal with the pressure of the price-tag as well as being the first-choice striker.

The striker was widely criticised on social media for taking the tenth penalty in the Carabao Cup second round shoot-out loss to Grimsby and had scored just two goals in his first 17 appearances for United across all competitions.

However, Sesko’s improvement coincided with the appointment of Michael Carrick as head coach in early January, finishing the season with double figures for goals and helping Man Utd secure a top-three Premier League finish.

“He’s been fantastic, we’ve worked with him a lot in different ways over the last couple of weeks,” Carrick said of Sesko after the Slovenia international netted a last-gasp winner against Fulham at the start of February.

“He’s bright in training, he’s looked dangerous, he’s done extra. The coaches have done a lot of bits on the side and Travis [Binnion], particularly, has done a lot of work one-on-one with him.
