Rodri responds to Barcelona star Gavi’s training ground controversy | OneFootball

Spain and Manchester City star Rodri has spoken publicly for the first time regarding the recent drama surrounding he and compatriot Gavi.

This, for those who may have missed it, comes after a piece of footage stemming from La Roja training went viral online.

The clip in question saw Gavi leave Rodri grounded and in evident pain, after stomping on the foot of the Ballon d’Or winner during a training ground drill.

Despite its accidental nature, the incident culminated in a heavy backlash against the Barcelona youngster, who was accused of recklessness just days out from Spain’s World Cup campaign being kickstarted.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media on Friday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his midfield partner’s challenge was put to Rodri himself.

And the 29-year-old went on to explain:

“Gavi is energetic. He has no filter, he doesn’t care. We really like his personality, although we do try to tell him that in training it’s different.

“I didn’t know they were recording, but I shat myself completely.”
