Alessio Romagnoli has reportedly refused to train with Lazio as he pursues a move to Roberto Mancini’s Al-Sadd.

He skipped Wednesday’s session with the rest of the squad. Corriere dello Sport reports the club offered no official explanation.

The centre-back had agreed an €18m-a-year deal with Al-Sadd and waved goodbye to fans on Saturday, then Lazio blocked the transfer with an official statement on Sunday.

Lazio have already sold Valentin Castellanos and Matteo Guendouzi in the January window. Romagnoli has held talks with Maurizio Sarri in an effort to convince him to approve a move abroad.

Claudio Lotito will not approve the transfer unless Sarri gives the green light. Romagnoli will not be available for Friday’s Serie A match against Genoa.

The club could take action against the defender if he continues to miss training in the coming days.
