Rwanda national team head coach Adel Amrouche has sent a stern message to Kaizer Chiefs over the management of Fiacre Ntwari.

The 26-year-old shot-stopper signed for the Soweto giants from TS Galaxy ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

However, below par performances saw Ntwari lose the nod to start in goal and he recently refused to be substituted in the Carling Knockout Cup penalty shootout defeat to Stellenbosch FC few weeks ago.

Now, Amrouche says he dissected Ntwari's situation with the Chiefs goalkeeper coach in a bid to help keep the player in top condition as he believes he is one of the best goal minders in the continent.

“I had a good discussion with Ilyes [Mzoughi], the [goalkeeper] coach of Kaizer Chiefs and I cannot tell him the work of coaches. It was only for communication and how we can maintain Fiacre in good shape and also in that level of competition,” he said.

"It's not easy and I am happy to have that collaboration with the coaches everywhere, especially with the coaches of Kaizer Chiefs - coach Nabi and also Ilyes the goalkeeper coach.

"We respect who the coach plays, of course this is football, the decision lies with the coach. But for Fiacre, in my opinion he is one of the best goalkeepers in Africa and he is very talented and disciplined player.

The Rwanda boss went on to urge Chiefs to let Ntwari leave the club if he is not regarded as a starter in Naturena.

“He is very positive, I never heard from him something negative about his club. He loves his club, he has very good contact with his teammates and also in the team all the players love him,” Amrouche added.

"It's difficult but I am happy he found me in the team and I give him all that confidence - also the team gives him all that confidence to be number one in the team and I wish him all the best.

"I can't talk because I respect the goalkeeper who plays and I respect and I respect the work for the goal. But I think if you don't let him play, you let him go because it's better not to stop the quality of someone like Fiacre.
