Ryan Reynolds told Wrexham favourite Ollie Palmer to leave the STōK Cae Ras live on Sky Sports after the striker admitted he had not watched Deadpool & Wolverine, during alternative commentary with Rob Mac on Friday night. According to Wales Online, it happened mid-match against Swansea City.
Palmer, 34, joined the broadcast for the occasion. He left Wrexham by mutual consent late last summer and signed for Swindon Town, who host Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday.
A fans’ favourite across three and a half years, Palmer even had a cameo in Reynolds’ 2024 film. Reynolds said the forward stole the scene, Palmer admitted he had not seen it, so Reynolds told him to put the mic down and head out, prompting a promise to watch.
On the pitch, Wrexham won 2-0, with big-money summer signings Callum Doyle and Nathan Broadhead scoring for the hosts. The result moved them six points clear of Derby County and Southampton in the fight for sixth, the Championship’s final play-off berth.
Southampton have a game in hand away to leaders Coventry City on Saturday. Reynolds urged perspective about Premier League talk, saying being in the Championship is worth savouring, and added that the togetherness around Wrexham and the wider community is something he never takes for granted.
